The comments section
The comments section is an interesting thing. On the one hand, it can be incredibly helpful to recieve feedback, or discuss a specific topic. On the other hand, it’s also a vehicle for hate or worry about one’s reach.
I’ve been thinking about this for a little while, and I’m honestly not sure where I stand on it, especially in my blog. I love having YouTube comments and reply to almost all of them there. It’s really cool to see the amount of reach my videos have and the amount of people who have taken the time to watch one of them. On my blog though, I think I’ve started to try and see its activity as some sort of a metric for how interested people are in my posts. This is my blog where I talk about my interests, and specifically should not be about exclusively prioritizing engagement.
It’s a cool system and I’m really happy with how it works, but I think I’m gonna use it less overall. Only have it here when it’s relevant. I’d much rather have engaging conversations with people who wanna chat through email, as that’s a far more developed system and you can actually… have a conversation there.
On that note, what are your thoughts on comments, throughout social media, blogs, the internet, all that. Let me know in the comments!
